CCTV Cameras
Allen Security & Consultant Co., Inc can engineer, design, implement, and service your CCTV system no matter how large or small. From single camera and monitor systems to large matrix switch/control systems Allen Security is at your service. A few things to consider as we start the process. We call it CCTV 101:

The only purpose of CCTV in security is identification. Ingredients in a properly designed CCTV system should include the following. First, is to determine the task perspective. CCTV Systems are meant to be used as "Visual Assessment" or "Visual Documentation" tools. Visual Assessment is referred to as having visual information of an identifiable and/or descriptive nature. Visual Documentation is having visual information stored for review and study. Visual documentation will likely need some embedded authenticity points, i.e. time/date stamp, character generated location/name, etc.

To design an apply a CCTV system properly there are eight steps before ordering bids or equipment. They are as follows:

  1. Determine the purpose of the proposed CCTV system. Determine and write out a paragraph describing the purpose of each camera.
  2. Define the area to be viewed by each camera. Be sure to define the height or width, and direction of view by compass point.
  3. Choose a camera based on the following: 1st is sensitivity, 2nd is resolution, and 3rd will be features. Sensitivity is the amount of light that is needed by the camera to produce a quality image. Resolution determines the actual quality of the image. Features, "bells and whistles", may include built-in video motion detector, character generation, mounting versatility, etc.
  4. Choose the proper lens for each camera. Lens selection is determined by the format size of the camera and the distance from the camera to the scene and the required relative size of the object of personal identification needed.
  5. Determine the location of the viewing monitor(s).
  6. Determine the best method for transmitting the video from the camera to the viewing monitors. i.e. Coaxial Cable, Fiber Optics, Twisted Pair, etc.
  7. Lay out the control area and determine the enhancements necessary for each camera view(s). Pan/Tilt/Zoom, Video Motion Detection, Alarm Points, etc.
  8. Determine the type and storage requirements for the archiving system.

We will be happy to assist you with the basic task described above as well as the more complex and involved ones for your system. Contact us.
