SERIOUS ABOUT SECURITY

Allen Security has a long-standing commitment to our customers in supplying peace of mind and a good nights' sleep. Our systems are designed around your home and way of life to provide maximum protection with simple and "user-friendly" interfaces. These systems can provide 24 Hour monitoring for Police, Fire, and Medical Emergencies.

How intruders are likely to enter your home

One of the most important things to know when investigating home security systems is the differences in the companies that supply such. The home security industry is generally divided into two categories. One category is the "recurring revenue motivated" company and the other is the "security professional" company. Generally speaking, the recurring revenue company is motivated to get you to sign a monitoring contract for a few years at an inflated rate per month (hoping that you will not cancel after the contract expires, which is successful for them more often than not) and providing a rudimentary burglar alarm system with little or no cost.

Allen Security falls into the security professional segment of the industry! The security professional company is motivated to SECURE YOUR HOME. The sales designer's motivation is limited to just that. As a general rule, a properly designed security system will consist of sensors on every ground accessible opening into your home. This is in stark contrast to the "two doors and a motion detector" approach generally used by the recurring revenue motivated company. For a security system, as opposed to a burglar alarm, complete perimeter coverage is strongly recommended. There are several reasons behind this, First; the best place to alert a perpetrator that he has activated an alarm is BEFORE he enters your home. Second; the best place to notify the occupant of the home that an intruder is present is BEFORE he enters your home. Third; with a complete perimeter system, you cannot arm your system with an open window or door without conscious intent, there-by not leaving a "gap" in your security.

While motion detectors make fine "back-up" devices, if you are so inclined, they are, at best, cumbersome when implemented into a security system. Though most modern day systems have logic circuitry that tries to determine when you are at home vs. away from home and appropriately arm or not-arm the motion detector as you arm your perimeter system, it is not fool-proof. Obviously you would not want your motion detector to be active while you are at home. Motion detectors should be considered as a primary means of detection when designing a burglar alarm system only.

Glass-breakage detectors are widely used in the security industry. There is a time and place for these devices. However, we believe that they are over-prescribed. While a glass-breakage detector is a perimeter device and meets the recommendation of alarm before an intruder enters, it will not meet the third criteria. You can easily, inadvertently leave a window or door open while arming your system. This creates a "hole" or "gap" in your security perimeter. We are often told that "I never open my windows, so this is not at issue". We submit to you that you would be more at risk to inadvertently leave a window open as it is absolutely not part of your "everyday" routine.

These and many other devices are available for intrusion detection. Please keep in mind that "powered devices" are more maintenance intensive than non-powered ones. The cost of ownership is greatly reduced with the ground floor openings sensors installed.

And for the down-side! Most likely, with a professional security system company you will be required to pay for the system components and labor to get your system installed. This may cost, generally, between $1000.00 and $2500.00. But, monitoring prices are usually lower and contracts are generally minimal, if any.
